About us

This unique guesthouse was owner/family build and is now run by the family. The plot has the most beautiful riverbank and sunsets. We want people to enjoy the peace and calmness of the countryside as much as we do. In 2017 we started to change this old house into a guesthouse. All the planning, designing, building, renovating old furniture and interior decorating was done by the family themselves. It took 2 years, but the result, was unique and rewarding. Although 100% complete, we are still constantly evolving to satisfy visitors expectations of life next to the Vaal River. May every person that rest their feet here, find peace, calmness and joy.

About our name:

InchCape – Inch as in a measurement, Warrenton is situated in the corner of the Cape Province, surrounded by the North-West and the Freestate provinces, therefor only an inch in the Cape Province!  Translated into Afrikaans is “‘n duim in die Kaap”.  In the Anglo-Boer war the “Transvaal” border was the Vaal river.

The house next door to the guesthouse was the mess of the soldiers and next to that is the “Blokhuis” from where they would defend the bridge/pont. (“pont”-A wooden platform that was pulled by people on a pully-system to cross the river)

The mess was constructed in 1878 and named InchCape. There are 2 more “blokhuise” in the area.

History of  Warrenton:
In 1880 a syndicate bought the western portion of the farm Grasbult on the Vaal River to irrigate the fertile land and produce vegetables for those working the diamond fields. Named after Sir Charles Warren, diamonds were discovered here in 1888 and mining continues.
